Eleni Maragaki

Eleni Maragaki

Eleni Maragaki is a multidisciplinary artist born in Athens, Greece, currently living and working in London.

Her practice involves the examination of the structure, system and materiality of the geometric form in its natural and artificial state. As a response to the densely manufactured urban spaces, she is inspired by the delicacy found within the system of natural structures, chemical elements and crystals. Her work poses profound questions relating to human expansion and the value of a sustainable urban setting.

All of her objects are handmade to precision, creating a fascinating dialogue between mechanical accuracy and the imperfections of human touch; the natural and the geometric. The visualisation of theoretical research is paramount to the practical aspect of her art. Her process involves continual trial and error through the creation of large-scale drawings, which are considered a key component of the final work.

In 2022, Eleni was shortlisted for the Maison/0 Sustainability Award and has taken part in numerous exhibitions including a screening at LUX Moving Image, London and a group show at Art Station Dubulti, Latvia.

Eleni studied Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts and MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins, receiving the Mona Hatoum Bursaries Award.
