Roberta Mason

Inspired by her profound connection to the sea, Roberta Mason’s mesmerising glass work is imbued with exhilarating memories of her underwater experiences. The transparency of hot glass captures a snapshot of life in a way few materials can. Brimming with movement, Roberta’s work explores the language of bubbles and the fascinating world of marine creatures. Porifera, is a celebration of the magnificent sponges found in aquatic habitats, which play a vital role in sustaining ocean ecosystems.

Using traditional glass techniques in non-traditional ways, Roberta creates unique sculptural works and installations rooted in captivating narratives. Her unwavering commitment to environmental issues, highlighted in the Climate collection, reflects the journey she has taken to becoming carbon neutral in both her life and practice. Amongst other lifestyle changes, Roberta is working towards converting her Wales based workshop into a hot shop augmented by wind and solar.

“We can make a difference and leave the world a better place than when we found it.”

Roberta graduated with an MA in Ceramics in Glass from the RCA London, has work in private collections in the US, UK, Europe and Australia, and has exhibited internationally.
